It's amazing that I've been a fan of Never Shout Never and haven't discovered this wonderful music video until recently. I'm not a huge music video fan in the first place, and for those of you who may or may not be familiar with Christofer Ingle and his music, let me just say that his music videos are just as impressive as the music itself.
It's just awesome that the official video for On the Brightside is animated. Whether that was originally Christofer's decision or a culmination of ideas, it's evident that it was the right choice. Animation being a natural storytelling medium, it just fits with this kind of song. It's reminiscent of some of the work of Shel Silverstein in its simple and surreal look, which for me, only adds to the experience.
Kudos to animation director Winona Regan, who's currently studying Experimental Animation at CalArts. She talked about On the Brightside herself over at her blog. I'm now a fan. And kudos to Christofer, for looking to collaborate.
