Don't Let V-Day Kill Your Creative Mood

Valentine's Day got you down? Never been much a fan of it either. But as creative types, naturally we crave creativity. And what better excuse for creativity than Valentine's Day? Well, except maybe Halloween.

Only you might be feeling a little down in the creative dumps this V-Day. No problem, happens to the best of us. I'm creative...I'm creative not. Luckily, I'm here to tell you that whether you're celebrating with chocolates or acronyms this year, you still have an excuse to get back into the Valentine spirit. Wondering how that's possible? Here are fourteen Valentine ideas from me to you, to get you into the creative mood:

1. Listen to some sappy love songs. At the very least, they might make you laugh.
2. Watch a fun romantic comedy. Oh come on, like you don't watch them.
3. Get engrossed in a killer romance book. Something that makes you cry, gets your emotions pumping. Doesn't have to be romance.
4. Be captured by an awe-inspiring work of art. Let it overtake your mind for just a moment.
5. Read a brilliant love poem. The less they actually say "love", the more they're brilliant.
6. Walk through the greeting card aisle. Or look up some cool original designs on the web.
7. Play around with some Sweethearts before you eat them. Some creative food for thought.
8. Go down memory lane with a cartoon/TV special for Valentine's Day. Nothing better than watching somebody else flounder around love.
9. Brainstorm the Best Valentine's Gift ever. Chocolates or red roses? Something more obscure, maybe.
10. Get some crafts and actually make a Valentine. For somebody or nobody...for yourself. Just for fun.
11. Try your hand at a love poem. Pretend you're Cyrano de Bergerac.
12. Rearrange the chocolates in that heart box. Fun little exercise, plus you'll confuse whoever wants a chocolate next.
13. Wear something red, or pink. Go all-out with hearts if you like.
14. Let something unexpected inspire you.
